summer watercolors

new haiku

the sunflowers are fading
on a crow’s wings
september chill

dozing butterfly --
for a long time
without you

breath of twilight
the chill from a
crow's wing

two clouds
side by side but pointing
different ways

cornflowers ,,,
the blue of sky
in my memories

spring spots (haiku)

Four inches of snow fell overnight and no trace of a breeze on this March morning

more & more
in patchy sunlight
spring spots

a warm night
a quiet farewell
of  the winter

behind the old fence
a gathering of snow
what is he waiting for?

clearer skies
it withers and breaks
crystal ice

noon heat . . .
snowy heap
pretending to be  a spring

Spring breath

park footpath
makes me want to dive
 right into spring

accusing the spring
of foolishness…
morning mist

my despondency
basking in the spring sun
starts to bloom

new haiku

bad luck
every time she dream
of starting over

sound of the thaw—
blooming over the fence
rambling snowdrops

wet snow—
its landing place…
 droplets

a soft melody:
in grandma's diary
the first buds

at night
she wakes me up  . . .
apricot moon

Shrovetide (new haiku )

March morning
smell of baking pancakes
a newish reality

Shrove Tuesday -
one odor of pancakes
changes another

fat Tuesday!
from every kitchen
a pancake ’s aroma

the kitchen table's
sharing my pancake with
the March sun

Shrove morning
I  share the pancake
with my cat

March

Looking at window it might take a bit of imagination and faith to believe it's really Springtime.
grayscale morning --
you can't see spring
from here

Women Day
I tempts her
with my recipe
of apple pie

Women Day
your voice
in my head

all day snow
I discussing out my haiku
with a cat

New haiku

Haiku is an art form, and as such it manifests the emotional experience of individual writers in response to certain situations or stimuli or ideas. An artist is someone who tries to re-create the experience, in the mind and emotions of the reader/viewer/listener, through an artistic arrangement of words, of sounds, of shapes and movements. In the same time haiku is poetry - a literary art, and so open to literary analysis. It is also, of course, an intrinsically personal encounter, and personal preference is to be embraced, not suppressed. From this, we can see that criteria for judging a haiku, or indeed any art, must be based on whether the poem is successful in meeting any or all of these artistic ends: is it authentic? does it present an immanent encounter? does it re-create or re-present the experience for the reader?

“Haiku values” are traditional foundations, both Japanese and Western, due to which interest in a haiku has become what it is today and which will continue to shape the haiku tradition in the future. There are many ideals that are likened to each of the various forms of haiku. Not a single poem can embody all, or even most of these ideals. Each of us must decide for ourselves what is important in writing and evaluating a haiku

dead leafs
how memory of the past ...

their landing place

dripping eaves
old music composed
of icicles

ice fog
all I do today
learn how to fall

Winter in Karelia

holiday Hyperborea 2019 in Karelia)

Haiku

snow dunes
sleeping among mirages
i dream of spring

howling wind -
in the bare trees hold
a frost note

from a new angle
winds thrash the trees,
 a hole in the cloud

 close windows
the old wall takes in all
   the winter wind

sounding
the distant echo of
temple bell

New haiku

frozen earth
not enough songs
to fill the silence

bitter aftertaste
talking to each other
back to back

February snow
so many poems
in need of warm

tall pines
the steady sound
of winter wind

deep snow
one taciturn silence
around the mountain

Winter paintings

the smell of snow…(new haiku)

winter darkness
a time of limitless
possibilities

January soiree -
blackcurrant flavour
flavoring my tea

another draft
wrapped in mist
my haiku

the cold
just when I think
this is how alone

an ant
faster than I am
step after step

January snow (haiku)

clouds drift
a slice of moonlight
is hiding

half dark
about to rise again
a blizzard

a blizzard
her breathing renders
music of the spheres

nightfall
unfazed by the parting
moon and my shadow

a sparrow
splashes its wings -
January snow

New haiku

expecting frost ..
framed by white snow
beauty of the scenery

rose-colored dawn
dissipates footprints...
of night fog

expecting frost,
wrapped in mist
the blue sky

January rain ....
the depth
of my frustration

a bird’s shadow
touching my shadow…
my thoughts about God

New Years (New haiku)

a scent of champagne
I unwrap
new calendar

thunder of fireworks
carry off into the night
unfulfilled hopes

the true smile
 of the Santa is hidden
under his beard.

Christmas Eve
the chants
of the temple bells

a bird’s shadow
touching my shadow…
my thoughts about God
